RAD Ballet

We at OKH Ballet Centre have been conducting structured lessons in Ballet following the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) syllabus for more than two decades. Our trainer is highly qualified under the RAD system and has produced generations of dancers with a rich tradition of excellence in technique and high levels of artistic achievement.

The Royal Academy of Dance, based in the United Kingdom, is the largest international organisation which specialises in the education of classical ballet for prospective dancers of all ages ranging from 2 years old and above. The RAD Syllabi conducts graded examinations for all levels annually ranging from the Pre-school Dance Curriculum to the Vocational Graded Syllabi. These examinations are the key to a promising career in dance or simply as a certification for a student's ability.

Here at OKH Ballet Centre, we believe in a positive and all-rounded education experience which aims not only to nurture students in proper ballet technique but also to develop the discipline, creativity and musicality in students required to produce true artists. A fun and highly enjoyable experience for all students in a condusive environment is not compromised.

Classes are conducted in groups with a suitable teacher-student ratio to ensure that students are allowed the social interaction with other students while receiving due attention from the teacher. A highly positive environment is stimulated in which students are encouraged to motivate each other to stretch their abilities to reach their full potential. It is not uncommon to see a student being applauded by all of his/her peers in a class after overcoming an obstacle!

OKH Ballet Centre conducts weekly lessons at various locations spread the East, West and Central regions of Singapore (see below for details on teaching venues).

The RAD Dance System:

Levels	Description
Pre-School Dance Curriculum	Children under this category do not have to take examinations but may participate in demonstration classes conducted in the presence of a RAD faculty member and a small audience of family members. This level is suitable for pre-schoolers of ages 2 1/2 to 5.
Graded Examination Syllabi (Pre-Primary to Grade 8)	The pre-primary to primary syllabus aims to provide a strong foundation in ballet for children of ages 4 to 7 which will prepare students for higher grades of learning. Grades 1 to 8 educate older students in three primary components: Classical, Free Movement and Character.
Vocational Graded Syllabi (Intermediate foundation to Advanced 2)	This is an advanced continuation of classical ballet from the Graded syllabus. The abilities of dancers are stretched closer to professional level and female students are Introduced to Pointe work.
